At approximately 9pm on Tue 8 Feb 2011 a neighbour heard what they thought was a vehicle stuck in the fields to the back of the National Grid (Stocking Pelham)
After dialling 999, units attended from Bishop Stortford and Buntingford, along with helicopter Air Support.
Four males were arrested. They had attempted to steal about £20,000 of copper cable, causing over £100,000 of damage.
A male, non-neutered black cat with green eyes moved in with a Furneux Pelham resident recently! He is friendly and appears to be house trained. He could have been missing for some weeks.
Catalytic convertor thefts from vehicles are becoming a regular occurence
They are stolen for the scrap value of the metal inside them. Following are a few tips you might like to consider particularly if you leave your vehicle in a remote location.

Theft Prevention for Catalytic Converters
The catalytic converter is an emission-controlling device that is a part of the exhaust system of many automobiles and trucks. It uses a platinum-iridium catalyst to oxidize pollutants before they can be released into the air, and it converts carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. The platinum on the converter makes it a valuable device and theft is a common concern. Protecting your catalytic converter from theft needs to be a priority.
In Furneux Pelham and Much Hadham overnight between Sat 8 May and Sun 9 May two 4x4 vehicles which were parked in the street had their catalytic converters removed.
Please be vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles, especially any vehicles seen late at night.
If any suspicious activity is seen please contact Herts Police on 0845 3300222
Here is some advice received from the local police.
The main rule of thumb for off roaders is, when seen, to ring 0845 33 00 222 immediately so an available unit can go out to the location and speak to them. Obviously, some do have permission from landowners but we are happy to find this out when we speak to them.
