I am currently researching the Knightley family who lived in Furneux Pelhan, Stocking Pelham, and Clavering. Edward Knightley who married a Grace Barker in F.P or S.P? in 1795. They had children who were born in F.P However, Knightleys were living in the Pelhams in the early 1700's. They probably were agricultual labourers etc. In the 1841 census a Knightley was living at White Willow which I believe would have been attached to Willow Farm. I expect many left the area during the industrial revolution. I wonder if anyone in the area has any information regarding this quite large family? If any are buried in the Parish church I expect they are in unmarked graves. Does anyone know if there are any burial records to view? Thankyou for reading this.

I recently made enquiries about searching the Furneux Pelham parish registers and was told they are now held at HALS (Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies).

my gt gt grand father was called Joseph Knightley. I always assumed that his parents were Edward and Grace as they had a child callled Joseph born about 1817. However that child died. I have now found that according to his marriage certificate his father was George Wylett a farmer from Clavering which means his mother was an (unmarried?) Knightley. I cannot find his birth. Intrigingly another Joseph Knightley was a witness at his wedding.

I've got a Sarah Knightley showing on the 1851 census working as a F/S for some antecedants of mine at Kings Farm if that's of interest, she was born c1826 in Furneux Pelham. I don't know anything else about her though..
