Then I have to go with what I originally thought before I put myself off with thoughts of no water - wrong time of year for migration etc... An Osprey??

Well I never, but reading up on the Osprey it could be on a migration passage which means it could be here for some days before moving on and it nests some distance from water and roosts well away from water. WOW
